Visio Drawing XML (VSDX) is the current file format of Microsoft Visio, introduced with Visio 2013 to replace the binary VSD. A VSDX is a ZIP package of Open XML parts describing every shape, connector, layer, and page. The open structure makes diagrams easier for other software to read, less prone to corruption, and far friendlier to version control than the old format.
How to open a VSDX file?
Microsoft Visio opens VSDX natively, and Visio for the web renders and lightly edits diagrams in a browser. Microsoft’s Visio Viewer also displays them on Windows.
Other applications handle VSDX well: diagrams.net imports and edits it in any browser, and LibreOffice Draw opens it on the desktop. To share a diagram with someone who has none of these, convert it with our VSDX to PDF tool.
