This is the format the iTunes Store sold music in for years, chosen because AAC gives better sound than MP3 at the same file size — a real advantage on a device with limited storage. How to open an iPod Audio file?

Add the file to your library in iTunes or the Apple Music app, then sync the iPod. It appears in the device’s music library ready to play.
