Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) is a protocol that manages the interactions between digital instruments and computers. Essentially, MIDI is the standardized language of the digital-music world. MIDI is unlike other audio file types in that its purpose is to share musical information (such as notes, timing, pitch, and volume) between applications, software, and hardware.
The best programs for opening MIDI files are Awave Studio and Audacity. Awave can read 260 different audio formats. Audacity is free, open-source software that works across platforms and operating systems.
Other programs that can open MIDI include Winamp, Windows Media Player, vanBasco’s Karaoke Player, Karaoke Player, Musicnotes Player, and Sibelius.

Ogg Vorbis (OGV) is a free, open-source, unpatented multimedia container format and codec. It is part of the Ogg family of formats and codecs, which the non-profit Xiph.Org Foundation developed to compete with patented codecs. OGV can time-division multiplex (TDM) audio, video, text (subtitles), and metadata. It supports streaming, as well as lossy and lossless compression. However, it does not support menus.
VLC media player is the best choice for opening OGV files. Other good choices are Winamp for on Microsoft Windows OS, and Elmedia on Mac OS X.
It is possible for OGV to play in Windows Media Player and DirectShow-based players, but only with the use of a DirectShow filter. On the other hand, if the player is not based on DirectShow, then the filter is not necessary.
