Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is a digital audio file format that reduces file size via lossy compression. Its primary uses are digital TV, digital radio, and Internet streaming. It is the standard audio format for iOS, YouTube, Nintendo, and Playstation. ISO/IEC designated the AAC codec as an improvement to MP3, due its ability to compress file size more efficiently while providing quality similar to uncompressed audio.
For best results, use VLC media player to open AAC files. Alternatively, AAC also opens by default in iTunes. AAC files are ubiquitous, however, and open in many other programs and software.
Additionally, since AAC files often serve as the audio files for video games, they open on most popular gaming consoles, such as Nintendo 3DS and Playstation 4.

3GPP (3GP) is a multimedia container format designed for third generation (3G) universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) networks, which is a global system for mobile (GSM) standard. Since UMTS is a technology for mobile, the 3GP format allows mobile phones on UMTS networks to capture, save, deliver, and play media over high-speed wireless connections.
The best application for opening 3GP is Apple QuickTime. And although 3GP is designed for mobile, the file format opens easily on most operating systems, including Linux, Mac, and Windows.
3GP is a flexible file format that supports captions and subtitles via 3GPP Timed Text. It does not support interactive menus, but it is compatible with free third-party tools that provide such support. One example is AutoGK. To improve the quality of the video while viewing off-mobile, convert the file to MP4.
