Apple QuickTime Movie (QT) is a file format that Apple developed for movie clips. It is very similar to MOV in that it is a container that can hold various types of multimedia files, including 3D and virtual reality (VR). It is an older format, whereas MOV is newer.
By default, a QT file opens with QuickTime. If the QT file is Version 2.0 or earlier, then it can open with Windows Media Player, but more-recent versions will not open in this player. If unable to open a QT file with QuickTime, then use VLC media player, which works across many platforms, including mobile.
Since QT is an older format, it might be necessary to review the QuickTime support topics published by Apple support. Apple offers advice for opening a QT file, as well as help with movie playback.

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is a digital audio file format that reduces file size via lossy compression. Its primary uses are digital TV, digital radio, and Internet streaming. It is the standard audio format for iOS, YouTube, Nintendo, and Playstation. ISO/IEC designated the AAC codec as an improvement to MP3, due its ability to compress file size more efficiently while providing quality similar to uncompressed audio.
For best results, use VLC media player to open AAC files. Alternatively, AAC also opens by default in iTunes. AAC files are ubiquitous, however, and open in many other programs and software.
Additionally, since AAC files often serve as the audio files for video games, they open on most popular gaming consoles, such as Nintendo 3DS and Playstation 4.
