Video Object (VOB) is a container file format for DVD movie files. Commercial DVD files that contain copyrighted content almost always have copy protection, such as Content Scramble System (CSS) encryption licensed and maintained by the DVD Copy Control Association (DVD CCA).
By default, VOB files open in Cyberlink PowerDVD, which is a player frequently installed on consumer electronics, such as laptops, desktops, and DVD drives. Since DVD files are usually encrypted, players must have CSS decryption software to enable playback.
An unencrypted VOB file will usually open on any player that allows playback of generic MPEG-2 files. VLC media player can also play unencrypted VOB files, and it works across many platforms, including mobile.

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is a digital audio file format that reduces file size via lossy compression. Its primary uses are digital TV, digital radio, and Internet streaming. It is the standard audio format for iOS, YouTube, Nintendo, and Playstation. ISO/IEC designated the AAC codec as an improvement to MP3, due its ability to compress file size more efficiently while providing quality similar to uncompressed audio.
For best results, use VLC media player to open AAC files. Alternatively, AAC also opens by default in iTunes. AAC files are ubiquitous, however, and open in many other programs and software.
Additionally, since AAC files often serve as the audio files for video games, they open on most popular gaming consoles, such as Nintendo 3DS and Playstation 4.
