Choose whether traced shapes are stacked on top of each other or kept separate.
Sets how much colour detail is kept. Higher values keep more shades. The default (6) suits most images
Sets the color difference between gradient layers. Larger steps mean fewer layers and simpler output.
Discards patches smaller than this size in pixels, clearing speckles out of the output.
Choose how traced outlines are drawn: Spline for smooth curves, Polygon for straight segments, or Pixel to follow the pixel edges. Default is Spline.
Sets how sharp an angle must be to be kept as a corner rather than smoothed into a curve. Lower values preserve more corners. The default (60) suits most images.
Sets the maximum length of each traced path segment. Smaller values follow the shape more closely but create more points, giving a larger and more detailed file. The default (4) suits most images.
Sets how much the direction must change (in degrees) before two curves are split apart rather than joined. Lower values follow the shape more closely at the cost of a larger file. The default (45) suits most images.

AOL ART (ART) is a proprietary, heavily compressed raster image format that America Online used to speed up image loading over dial-up connections. It stores a single still image and trades visible quality for very small file sizes. When AOL members browsed the web, images were re-compressed into ART by AOL's proxy servers — a feature branded TurboWeb and later AOL TopSpeed — which users could turn off. The format is now obsolete.

 

How to open an ART file?

Support has almost entirely disappeared: Internet Explorer removed ART rendering in a June 2006 security update, and mainstream viewers such as XnView and IrfanView cannot read AOL ART. The one reliable option is Graphic Workshop Professional (Windows) with its ART plugin installed.

 

Keep in mind that the .art extension is reused by unrelated programs, including Delcam/Autodesk ArtCAM, so a file that refuses to open may simply not be an AOL image. (ImageMagick's "ART" format is also a different format.) If your ART file is an AOL image, convert it to a modern format with our ART to JPG tool.

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a resolution-independent, open-standard file format. It is based on Extensible Markup Language (XML), uses vector graphics, and supports limited animation. The main benefit of using an SVG file is, as the name implies, its scalability. This file type can be resized without a loss in image quality. In addition, SVG is unique in that it is not an image format. Instead, it is an XML-based standard that provides information for creating two-dimensional vector images.

How to open an SVG file?

SVG files open readily in most web browsers, such as Firefox or Microsoft Edge. In addition, since SVG is an XML file, you can view the XML-associated text in any common text editor, such as Windows Notepad or Brackets for macOS.


It is possible to use Adobe programs for opening and editing SVG files. Just be sure to install the SVG Kit for Adobe Creative Suite plug-in first. Converting SVG files is possible with the aid of a few online tools. For conversion to non-vector file types, try our SVG to GIF or SVG to PDF tools.
