Olympus Raw Format (ORF) is the proprietary raw file format produced by Olympus and OM System cameras, including the OM-D and PEN ranges. Based on the TIFF structure, an ORF preserves the unprocessed sensor data along with the lens, ISO, and exposure settings used for the shot. Because no compression or in-camera rendering is baked in, ORF files act as digital negatives with a much wider editing latitude than JPG.

How to open an ORF file?

OM System provides the OM Workspace application, which applies the manufacturer’s own colour science and lens corrections to ORF files.

Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw read ORF, and RawTherapee and darktable do the same. For sharing, edit the raw file first and export at the end — our ORF to JPG tool handles the conversion.

OpenDocument Drawing (ODD) is a graphics document from the OpenDocument family, the open standard used by LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice. The file is a ZIP package containing XML that describes shapes, lines, text boxes, and any embedded bitmaps, so the artwork stays editable and scales without losing quality. Note that the standard extension for OpenDocument drawings is .odg, and .odd files are usually the same kind of drawing document.

How to open an ODD file?

The natural application is LibreOffice Draw, which reads the whole OpenDocument family. Apache OpenOffice Draw works equally well.

If the file will not load, try renaming it to .odg first — that is the extension LibreOffice expects for a drawing. Other options include Inkscape, which imports OpenDocument drawings, and Google Drive, which can preview many OpenDocument files in the browser. To share the drawing with someone who has no office suite, convert it to PDF or PNG. You can also convert the file with our ODD to PDF tool.
