RealMedia (RM) is a multimedia container format that is proprietary to RealNetworks. RealNetworks designed RM to stream content over the Internet. RM compresses video with a RealVideo codec and audio with a RealAudio codec.

How to open an RM file?

As a proprietary format, an RM file opens by default in RealPlayer, which RealNetworks developed. If RealPlayer is missing, then download it here.

Other programs that can open an RM file include VLC media player, MPlayer, and CrystalPlayer. For mobile, on Apple iOS, try OPlayer HD, and VLC media player for Android.
