MIDI-Sequention Music (RMI) is a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) file format that exists within a Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF) container. Within the container, the role of the RMI file is to provide instructions and store comments. Also, an RMI file does not contain audio data. Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a multimedia container developed by Microsoft. AVI is a descendant of the Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF). With the assistance of third-party programs, AVI can support chapters, captions, subtitles, menus, streaming, attachments, and 3D containers.

Microsoft provides a downloadable and free AVI Viewer. Another way to view an AVI file is to use a version of Microsoft Windows Media Player that is compatible with the operating system.

 

While AVI files are optimized for the Internet, hardware players support them as well. If an AVI file does not open, then use VLC media player.
