Choose how to set the output size: keep the original, enter a width or height and we'll keep the aspect ratio, enter both dimensions, or scale by a percentage. Use "Keep original" to leave its dimensions unchanged.
Choose how much to compress the PNG. "Lossy" gives the smallest files at the cost of image quality; "Auto" picks a level for you.
Lower values give better compression (at the cost of image quality)
Correctly orient the image using the gravity sensor data stored in EXIF

Portable Pixmap Format (PPM) is an uncompressed, raster-based colour image format from the Netpbm family. A PPM file stores a plain header followed by RGB values for every pixel, either as readable ASCII text or as binary data. Because nothing is compressed or discarded, PPM is deliberately simple for programs to read and write, at the cost of very large file sizes.

How to open a PPM file?

Most operating systems do not open PPM by default. XnView MP and GIMP both read it, and on Windows IrfanView opens PPM as well.

PPM is mainly used as an intermediate format in image-processing pipelines rather than for storage or sharing. Because of its size, convert PPM to a compressed format before publishing it online — try our PPM to JPG converter. Related Netpbm types are PBM (bitmap), PGM (greyscale), and PNM (any of the three).

Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a raster-based file type that compresses images for portability. PNG images can have RGB or RGBA colors and support transparency, which makes them perfect for use in icons, or graphic designs. PNG also supports animations with better transparency (try our GIF to APNG). The benefits of using PNG are Plus, PNG is an open format that uses lossless compression

How to open a PNG file?

Generally, PNG files will open in your operating system’s default image viewer. PNG files are also easily viewable on all web browsers. If you are having trouble opening PNG files, use our PNG to JPG, PNG to WebP, or PNG to BMP converters.

Alternative programs such as GIMP or Adobe Photoshop are useful for opening and editing PNG files. PNG files are a bit larger than other file types, so exercise caution when adding them to a web page. One interesting feature of PNG files is the ability to create transparency in the image, particularly a transparent background.
