DjVu, pronounced déjà vu, is a file type that offers strong compression for high-resolution images. While similar to TIFF and PDF file types, DjVu offers much stronger compression than either of those. The most common use of DJVU files is to store scanned documents, which makes it more of a document file type than an image file. DjVu has the advantage of compressing files without sacrificing quality. However, the disadvantage is that special software is required to open DjVu.

Download the DjVu Browser Plug-in, which will enable you to open the files using any modern web browser. Often, DjVu files are converted to PDF, which is more familiar to most users.
