Sets how the video is encoded. "Auto" suits most conversions. "Copy" reuses the video as-is, so it is fast and keeps full quality, but only when the output format supports it.
Choose how the video is resized: to a set resolution, or to a different aspect ratio, where the video's width is kept and the height is recalculated to match. Select "No change" to keep the original size.
Sets how many frames per second the output video has. Lowering it reduces file size but makes motion less smooth, and raising it above the source frame rate won't add smoothness. "No change" keeps the source frame rate.
Rotates the video clockwise by the angle you select. Choose "None" to leave it as-is.
Flips the video horizontally or vertically. "No change" leaves it as-is.
Select the best option for your subtitles: 'Upload' to add your own, or 'Copy' to replicate from the original file.

Upload a .srt or .ass file.
Choose how subtitles are added. "Hard" burns them into the video permanently; "Soft" keeps them separate so viewers can turn them off. Default is Hard.
Sets how the audio is encoded. "Auto" suits most conversions. "Copy" reuses the audio as-is, so it is fast and keeps full quality, but only when the output format supports it.

MOD is the video format that many standard-definition camcorders from JVC, Panasonic, and Canon wrote to their internal hard drives or SD cards. Inside, a MOD file is essentially an MPEG-2 program stream — the same encoding used on DVDs — paired with a small companion .moi file that stores the recording date and other camera details. JVC's high-definition counterpart is TOD, which keeps the same MPEG-2 encoding at HD resolutions; it should not be confused with AVCHD, a contemporaneous but separate H.264-based format that uses the .mts and .m2ts extensions.

Note: The .mod extension is also widely used for tracker music modules, a format originating on the Amiga with Ultimate Soundtracker and ProTracker that stores sequenced patterns alongside sampled instruments. If your .mod file is only a few hundred kilobytes and will not play as video, it is almost certainly a music module — open it with OpenMPT, XMPlay, or VLC. Some games and applications also use .mod for user-made modification packages, which are not media files at all.

How to open a MOD file?

VLC media player is the usual choice, since it plays MOD without any additional codecs.

Because MOD is really MPEG-2, another reliable trick is to rename the file extension from .mod to .mpg — most players and editors will then recognise it immediately. Video editors such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve can import MOD footage, and our MOD to MP4 converter makes old camcorder recordings easy to share.

MPEG-4 (MP4) is a container video format that can store multimedia data, usually audio and video. It is compatible with a wide range of devices and operating systems, using a codec to compress file size, resulting in a file that is easy to manage and store. It is also a popular video format for streaming over the Internet, such as on YouTube. Many consider MP4 to be one of the best video formats available today.

How to open an MP4 file?

MP4 files open in the operating system's default video player. Simply double-clicking the file opens it. There is no need for third-party software. On Windows, it opens in Windows Media Player. On Mac, it opens in QuickTime.

On some devices, particularly mobile, opening this file type can be problematic. MP4 is a container that contains various kinds of data, so when there is a problem opening the file, it usually means that data in the container (an audio or video codec) is not compatible with the device’s OS. To resolve this issue, try VLC media player.
